  • FCC Austin Trip to San Antonio/Chinese Art Event, Columbus Day Weekend (October 10–11). During this time, the San Antonio Museum will be offering an exciting exhibit of contemporary Chinese Art, entitled 28 Chinese. Planned activities include a group museum tour at 11:00 on Saturday and possibly a group dinner. Families are responsible for transportation, meals, museum tickets, etc. A block of 25 rooms have been reserved at the Fairfield Inn for our group at a reduced rate until Wednesday, September 9th.   • #Flip the Script: Adult Adoptee Anthology is a collective writing & art anthology sponsored by The AN-YA Project. The purpose is to compile a broad spectrum of adoptee points of view through literature and art. Writers and artists must be adult adoptees, 18 or older. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
  • Peking Opera Performance: Joined by Lin Zongti, a master musician from China National Peking Opera Troupe, performers from Houston Chinese Opera Club and Austin Chinese Opera Club will present four selected scenes of Peking opera classics: Farewell to My Concubine, Mother-Son Reunion, Into the Palace a Second Time, and Lady Mu the Marshal. English subtitles will be provided. This free event takes place on Saturday, May 16th at 2:00 pm at the Asian American Resource Center.

  • Melanie Chung-Sherman Spring Workshops, FCC parent/children workshops on Saturday, March 28th with Melanie Chung-Sherman, LCSW, PLLC, at Riverbend Church, 4214 North Capital of Texas Highway, in Austin. Melanie is a well-known therapist who happens to be a transracial adoptee from Korea. This is for all families interested in exploring their collective and individual adoption journeys. The workshops will be for ages 7–18 (grouped by age group), and there will be one parents-only workshop.
