  • Music and Dance Show by Abby Hu, September 17, 2017, at 6:30–7:30 pm, at the Asian American Cultural Center (AACC), 11713 Jollyville Road. Tickets available at no charge for FCC members, although donations are encouraged. For non-FCC attendees, tickets will be $12.
    Abby Hu, a very talented high school student and master guzheng artist is putting together a show as a special benefit for FCC Austin! She won the American Protégé International Competition and recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She has invited featured artists to join her, including choreographer Diana Wang of the Austin Dance Project. Abby has performed for FCC Austin in the past, admires our organization, and is doing this performance as a special benefit and fundraiser for FCC Austin; thank you, Abby!
  • Back to China Discussion & Pool Party, Sunday, August 13, 2017, 2–5 pm, at the home of FCC Treasurer, William Robison & family. Have you been back to China since your adoption (or your child’s adoption?) Curious about what it’s like to visit and explore the country of your birth? Three FCC-Austin adoptees went back to China and have offered to share their experiences and answer questions: Zoe Watts, a junior at Southwestern University, Hannah Weaver a senior at Premier High School, and Caroline Heath, a sixth grader at Murchison Middle School. They will tell you all about their trips for an hour or so and then we’ll swim and visit. Please RSVP jenaheath@gmail.com for directions and to get a good head count for snacks and drinks.
  • Kids’ Design Event with Architect Michael Hsu, Sunday, August 6, 2017, 3–5 pm, at P. Terry’s near Koenig & Lamar in Austin. This event will provide our kids with hands-on design fun creating true-to-scale architectural modeling with guidance from architects Michael Hsu, and our very own prez & architect Tom Hurt. A free event; please come!
  • FCC Swim Party, Sunday, June 4, 2017, 4–7 pm, at 2608 Rollingwood Drive, Austin, hosted by Mike & Maryanne Wiley. Please join us for an FCC Beginning-of-Summer-Swim-and-Grill Party! We’ll be grilling, so please bring burgers or hotdogs or something vegetarian for your family; FCC will provide fixings, chips, and beverages. Remember to invite a new friend or an old one we haven’t seen in a while. We look forward to seeing you there!
  • 2017 FCC Austin Family Retreat, located at TBarM Lake Travis in Spicewood, Texas, will take place from Friday, April 28–Sunday, April 30, 2017. Saturday’s Rock Climbing Wall and Barn Swing activities as well as Saturday’s Birth Parent Searching presentation by Our China Stories founder and local adoptive Mom Jena Heath are included for both weekend campers and Saturday Day Guests. Registration opens on March 18th. To register, send full payment and these completed forms to the address indicated within the materials: FCC Registration, FCC Retreat Release, TBarM Medical Questionnaire and TBarM Agreement to Participate.   • Chinese New Year Celebration, Sunday, January 29, 2017, 2–5 pm at the Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Road, Austin, TX 78754. Please join Austin’s Families with Children from China in welcoming the Year of the Rooster at our Chinese New Year celebration. There will be crafts, tasty food, a silent auction, contests and a balloon artist. Featured entertainment includes the Texas Guzheng Music Band, the April Rain Dancers, and the Summitt Lion Dance Team. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
