  • Mid-Autumn Festival, Sunday, October 6th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, at Central Market (4001 N. Lamar Blvd., 78756). We’re planning to have a performance from the Heavenly Dragon Lion Dance Association, henna tattoos, moon pies, members-only DIY boba station, and more! We hope to see you all there!

  • Chinese New Year Celebration, TBA

  • Game Night, Saturday, August 10, 2024, 5:00 to 8:00pm: Join us for a fun family Game Night at Tom Hurt’s Architecture Office (409 W. 14th Street). Bring your favorite games and $5 per person for pizza. We will have board and card games and maybe some video games for all to play! All are welcome to join us for this fun activity!
  • Pool Party, Sunday, July 14, 2024 at 3:00pm: We are planning an informal swim get together at Deep Eddy Pool. Entry fee for Austin residents is $5 for adults, $3 for juniors, and $2 for children. We will meet on the grassy area by the shallow end.
  • Dim Sum Brunch Social, Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 11:30pm: We will meet up at Wu Chow on North Lamar for some food and fun!
  • Annual FCC Spring Retreat, at the beautiful John Knox Ranch in Fischer, Texas: April 26th evening to April 28th noon. It is a lovely camp ground in the Texas hill country, featuring a “blue hole” for swimming, pool time, outdoor recreation, and a campfire pit! FCC programming includes arts and crafts time, games, (maybe a movie), and good food.
So far, FCC has booked the common area, 2 houses (2 units each), and a screened porch with bunks (sleeps 20). The duplex cabins are 6 bunk beds and 1 queen bed per room.
    Reservation pricing is:
    $290 per family/party for a 2-night stay
    $200 per family/party for a 1-night stay
$25 per person for a day pass (includes 2 meals)
If you want to stay overnight in one of the cabins, please submit a deposit of $100 by April 14th to Mike Revesz via Venmo to secure a room (please title the venmo payment as “FCC retreat overnight”). We also ask that all day pass attendees submit their “ticket” payments of $25 dollars to Mike Revesz via Venmo (please title payment as “FCC retreat day pass”). Mike’s Venmo: @revesz, Mike’s Phone: (512) 921-7458.
Food costs will be handled separately, with teams planning, buying, and preparing food for 4 simple meals: Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Saturday evening smores, and Sunday breakfast. Typically we keep food costs low, and right now we’re looking at a sandwich bar for lunch, pasta for dinner, and eggs, bacon, waffles, etc., for our breakfasts! Please note that the $25 cost for a day pass includes lunch, dinner, and s’mores. Also, please contact Traci to let her know of any dietary restrictions you or your family members may have.
Feel free to reach out to any board members with any questions, comments, or concerns... we’re looking forward to seeing y’all at the retreat!
  • Chinese New Year Celebration, Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at Northwest Hills United Methodist Church Youth Center welcoming in the Year of the Dragon! We have a lot of fun things planned for this event, including an origami workshop, silent auction, catering from First Chinese BBQ, and dance performances by the Love of China School of Dance! We would love for you to come out and join us!
  • For Adoptees 18+ years old: Navigating Relationships with Family, Tuesday, February 6th 2024 from 7:00 to 9:00pm ET. The panel will be compromised of five Chinese adoptees and will be facilitated by Astrid Castro, a Colombian adoptee and founder and CEO of Adoption Mosaic. You can find more information about the event on Instagram and RSVP at our website for the Zoom link. Price of admission for this event for non-Chinese Adoptee Alliance (CAA) members is $10, but an annual virtual membership of $18 gives you free or discounted access to all CAA events. CAA would greatly appreciate it if you could forward this event to all adoptees who may be interested.
  • Game Night, Saturday, January 6, 2024: Save the Date! Our game night in July was so much fun that we’re having another one during the winter school holidays, on the evening of Saturday, January 6, with pizza, board games, and card games.
